This final component is an oral presentation by students to a panel of community and staff members. The purpose of this presentation is to allow students to offer evidence of readiness to graduate and of how they will assume responsibility for their own learning.
Requirements:
- 15-20 minutes of presentation
- 10 minutes of answering panelist questions
- Focus on the project and the reflective paper
- Touch on the employability portfolio and the scholarly paper
Standards:
- Preparation: Ideas are organized. Appears practiced and prepared to present.
- Delivery: Delivers and does not "read" presentation.
- Appearance: Clothing choices and appearance are appropriate and respectful to the audience.
- Non-verbal Communication: Uses facial expressions and eye contact to engage the audience. Uses gestures to enhance presentation.
- Verbal Communication: Generally articulates well, comfortable pace, and appropriate volume.
- Language: Word choice is appropriate, though not particularly vivid or precise.
- Visual Aids: Integrates technology and/or audio-visuals into presentation. Use of tech/visual supports presentation.
- Content: Covered the assigned topic sufficiently.
- Opens and concludes effectively.
- Offers enough credible evidence from the Scholarly Paper to document logical, analytical thinking and the ability to support an argument.
- Offers enough credible evidence from the Project Component to document the ability to plan and direct own learning.
- Offers enough credible evidence from the Reflective Letter to document reflections, self-evaluation, and analysis of implications for the future.
- Explains how evidence offered supports readiness to take responsibility for own learning and how it connects to post-high school plans.
- Responsiveness to Questions: Responses to audience questions are generally relevant but little elaboration is offered.
