The Senior Culminating Project is for students to demonstrate their skills, education experiences and ability to apply what they've learned.
The AHS Culminating Project consists of five components:
- Employability Portfolio
- Scholarly Paper
- Project
- Reflective Paper
- Presentation
All students that want to receive a diploma from the Arlington School District must complete all components of the culminating project. This requirement begins with the graduating Class of 2005.
Washington State Board of Education sets minimum requirements for high school graduation (WAC 180-51-061). One of their requirements is:
"Each student shall complete a culminating project for graduation. The project consists of the student demonstrating both their learning competencies and preparations related to learning goals three and four."
The AHS Culminating Project is designed to build on Goals 1 and 2, while incorporating Goals 3 and 4.
